Aarau

In May 1798, the Swiss councils named Aarau as the provisional capital of Switzerland.

With around 20,000 inhabitants, Aarau is one of the most attractive small towns in Switzerland. It is the city of beautifully painted roof gables. Aarau offers many cultural and architectural highlights and has a picturesque old town with pretty streets and numerous sights.

The city archivist and historian Raoul Richner guides you through the city. He inspires with his profound knowledge and his unique storytelling skills. It’s a big show.
